(RALEIGH, NC) — The Holt Brothers Foundation, which supports children impacted by a parent with cancer, has named Mary-Ann Baldwin as its new Executive Director. Mary-Ann currently serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Holt Brothers Construction, a branch of Holt Brothers Inc. She will serve in dual roles for the company.
“Mary-Ann has worked with us for a year on the construction side of our business and has helped us develop our brand and grow our experience and revenue,” said Terrence Holt. “She brings a wealth of market experience and connections.”
Her experience working for the Carolina Hurricanes as Director of Corporate Communications and Community Relations, combined with her experience running the team’s Kids ‘n Community Foundation, was instrumental in the decision, said Torry Holt. “She’s proven adept at fundraising, developing relationships and growing a community,” he said.
The Holt Brothers established the Foundation after losing their mother to a hard-fought battle with cancer. Baldwin said the goal is to grow the Foundation so it can support more children who have a parent battling this disease. “Terrence and Torry were deeply impacted by their mother’s illness. It’s a compelling and compassionate story that people can relate to and support,” she said.
Baldwin has more than 25 years of experience in the communications field and specializes in branding and business development. Before joining Holt Brothers Construction, she ran her own firm, Baldwin Communications, working with such clients as NC State University, Strategyn and Builders of Hope. Prior to that, she served as director of marketing and business development for Stewart Engineering and was an assistant branch manager at Mulkey Engineers & Consultants.
She currently serves an at-large City Councilor in Raleigh. She is the co-founder of the Innovate Raleigh initiative, which serves as a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. She’s also active in the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance.
ABOUT THE HOLT BROTHERS FOUNDATION
The Holt Brothers Foundation supports children who have a parent with cancer. Its main program, KidsCan!, provides education, emotional support, peer empathy and inspiration in partnership with four hospitals. During monthly group meetings, the kids learn about the disease and share their feelings in a safe environment. The Foundation also supports Camp Kesem North Carolina, a summer camp for children with a parent with cancer. The camp gives the children a break and allows them to just be kids. The Holt Brothers Foundation’s Butterfly Grant provides an extra week of camp for children.
